Chapter 3
There was a big rumble amongst the youth meeting at Aiyetoro town, They were rumor that the Popular Biology Teacher in the community school which was a NYSC Corp member was having an affair with the younger sister of the greatest hunter in the community.
What an Audacity! Exclaimed Oriyomi, one of the leaders of the youths.
Oriyomi: this is a total taboo, Ahan, An Igbo Man, coming to our Community and having affairs with Omotola, Omotola that is of high regards in this community. This crimes for serious Prosecution.
These rumour Spread within the youth meeting and they were forced to question Suleiman about his agreement and the rules of the town, By not having an affair with not only a stranger but a Native of the eastern Part of Country. People that are rumored to be Carnivorous shouted one of the youths, Eating flesh and Slave trading young ones….. This topic caused a division within the youths because the Ones who were with Suleiman, told Suleiman about how kind and Loving this Youth Corper is, how he treated everyone with love and care and having seen Him and Omotola many times on the mountains and think they were in Love.
But because of the Majority voice from Oriyomi and the other youths, Suleiman was forced to raise a motion to give Him 2 week’s to look for Obinna in other to bring him to the Youths and decide on his crimes. Oriyomi agreed to this motion and it was cooled off for the main time.
Back at community school….
Tobi rushed in the staffs room, where all teachers are sited, I heard the community youths are looking for Mr Obinna? (Looking worried and saying toward the principal)
Obi quickly dragged Tobi outside the room and whispered….
Obinna – Tobi what’s happening, Why am I not safe, I don’t understand.
Tobi – (Breathing Heavily) About you and Aunty Tola, The whole community youths have sitted over the issue and they’ve made a decision.
Obinna – What decision? Why would they need to know about my personal life, This is rubbish and nonsense I’m hearing.
Tobi – Just find a safe place for now sir, I know these youths and what they can do, they are dangerous and desperate sometimes.
Obinna – Okay, I’ve heard you. Thank you for the head ups.
Obinna goes back to the staff room and had a talk with the principal of the school.
Obinna – Sir the principal just told me about the youth plans on me and it sounds dangerous.
Principal Ade – Mr Obinna, it’s very true the youths in this community are often dangerous, but they are very friendly to the youth corpers, why plan about you?
Obinna whispers softly….
Obinna – it’s about my affair with Omotola, we are actually in love and why would be that be an issue for the youths to be against my personal life?
Principal Ade was not surprised because he know all along and all teachers were glad, Omotola found a Decent and Respectful Man.
Obinna had been a very caring man towards Omotola in past few months about 5 months ago since Obinna proposed to Omotola and they have been dating secretly since then but the school knew all along and kept quiet because they had been a lovely couple. The principal then decides to meet the town chiefs and priest, pastor John. Pastor John was a well respected man who have the Biggest church in the whole community, his influence has flown out of prospective youths out of the community to startup new lives as a head in another ministry elsewhere bigger and better communities than Aiyetoro community, The youths could listen to him.
Pastor John, Principal Ade, Obinna and Omotola who had run for shelter at Pastor’s john church was having a serious talk about the outrage of the youth whereby the whole community have not been in peace over rumors that Omotola was kidnapped by Obinna.
So many lies spread by Oriyomi and his Gang says Omotola. Why does he always want to say in my life, why is he being a pest, exclaimed Omotola.
Obinna – All these will be over soon and I’m sorry you and our baby is going through all these discomfort because of me. I’m so sorry dear.
Pastor John – This is true love indeed.we really need to calm the youths, tell the truth and besides, I don’t see anything wrong with a young lady being with whoever she loves, the Scriptures says it, A man and a woman is a union when there is true love and not deceit, that’s is true love I see and the youth are the once deceiving others into hating this beautiful union.
Principal Ade – I think we have to call a meeting with the Grand parents of Omotola, so they can join hands with us, calm the youths and join this lovely union together since a baby is on its way. And you know in Yoruba culture, a union must be joined together before the pregnancy before 6 months.
Pastor John – Yes, that is a welcoming idea
Just as the conversation was on …. A big bang knocked at the door…
Pastor John …. Omotola quickly, you and Obinna go to the other room while I handle this….
To their surprise, it was Suleiman and his grandfather Mr Olaitan who was at the door.
Suleiman – Good evening sir, can we come in.
Pastor John – Peace be unto you, you can Suleiman, and good to see you again.
I surely know my Omotola is here, she has nowhere to go, except your abode. Pls tell me she’s here.her grand mother has been so Sad since she left home. Exclaimed Mr Olaitan.
Suleiman – It’s been five days now and I’ve been blamed by Grandma, for her decision saying I should have respected my sister’s decision at first when she told us about She and Obinna.
Suleiman – I’m just here to say I’m sorry for all I’ve said to her, if she feels safe being with the Corper, it’s okay with me.please tell us the truth if she’s here.
Pastor John – I must say I’m glad you’ve said it all Suleiman.
Love is not measured by Cultural or Religious Practice, Love is either Northern, Eastern, Western or Southern. Love is God and God is all.
Pastor John continues, when Obinna and Omotola comes out of the other room, Kneels down and Obinna prostrates towards Mr Olaitan.
Obinna – I’m sorry for all your troubles, I’m sorry Tola and I had to go hiding, our lives were in danger that’s why, the youths are looking to prosecute us, I blame myself for all that happened.
Suleiman steps in and hugs Obinna….
Suleiman – I’m sorry brother, I should have understand better when Omotola told me about how she feels safe with you, How you adored her and loved her for who she is, I’m sorry Obinna.
Then they all hugged one another and agreed on joining the unions together.
Just later that night when everyone had gone to their rooms,
Obinna phone rings….
Nnenna – Hello Obi, what’s , I’ve been calling you for the past 4 days but your phone isn’t going thoroughgoing, how have u been.
Obinna narrates all that he’s been through on the phone, Nnenna was so Pained because she herself had think she would marry Obinna.
After the call, Nnenna didn’t sleep the whole night….
She spent the Night crying. Feeling rejected, because she actually Loved Obinna right from their days in FUTO.
