Chapter 3: The Inhabitants

Layla wandered for hours, searching for signs of life. As night fell, she heard voices carried on the wind. Following the sound, she stumbled upon a settlement—a village that looked like it was from the past but merged with strange futuristic technology. People with elongated limbs and eyes that glowed in the dark stood around, their language a mix of musical tones and static.

They noticed her immediately. One of them, a tall figure with skin that shimmered like glass, stepped forward and addressed her in perfect English.

“We’ve been expecting you,” the being said.

Layla’s heart skipped a beat. “How? Who are you?”

“We are the Observers,” the being replied. “We live in this dimension, but we know of yours. Few from your world have ever crossed over, but we’ve always watched. You, Layla, are the first to come in a long time.”
